The American Heart Association (AHA) recently presented Saint Joseph’s Hospital stroke program dual achievement awards for performance and quality. The Get With The Guidelines (GWTG) – Stoke Performance Achievement Awards were in recognition of Saint Joseph’s sustained compliance in each of seven core GWTG-Stroke measures.
“This is another successful patient safety and quality program at Saint Joseph’s,” says Debbie Camp, RN, stroke coordinator at Saint Joseph’s Hospital. “We’re committed to providing stoke patients the best care that is aligned with the latest scientific guidelines.”
The voluntary GWTG program is evidence-based for quality improvement and combines the expertise of the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association who developed the criteria and reporting benchmarks. Participating hospitals must submit baseline data based on developed or existing standing orders and/or protocols in accordance with the GWTG-Stroke measures.
