Visiting Saint Joseph's

Visitors are welcome at Saint Joseph’s. We ask that you honor the visiting hours posted on each unit. During the daytime hours, the number of visitors per family is not usually limited in the waiting rooms or on the medical/surgical units. If the number of visitors becomes disruptive to the hospital, or to other visitors, a limit may be imposed. After visiting hours are over (9 p.m.), the maximum number of visitors remaining in the hospital is two per patient.

Visiting guidelines

  • Visiting children- At all times, children ages 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult and remain in the patient room when visiting above the first floor. No children under the age of 16 are allowed on the second floor, except when special visitation has been arranged with the nursing staff. After visitation, children are to return to the first floor.
  • Parking of vehicles- Parking at any of the hospital entrances is permitted for drop-off and pick-up of patients. Vehicles should not be left unattended. Valet parking is provided at both the main entrance and the Stella Maris Outpatient Center. Self-parking is available in the visitors’ deck. After a patient has been hospitalized for 10 consecutive days, contact the security department (Ext.7568) for other parking arrangements.
  • Cleaning- All visitor waiting rooms are cleaned daily at 8:30 a.m. We ask that visitors please leave the area and remove all belongings while the cleaning is being done.
  • Consultation rooms- These rooms are available for families experiencing crisis and are made available on an as-needed basis, for a short period of time, by the pastoral care department. These rooms are not designed for extended stays as they need to be available to other families that may be experiencing crisis.
  • Security- Security is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week. If any visitor experiences unacceptable or threatening behavior, please call 404-851-7568 and security will respond to address the situation.
  • Food- A cafeteria and a vending area are located on the ground floor of the hospital for meals and snacks. Coffee machines are located in most of the visitor waiting areas. Beverage machines also are located on the floors. Please limit eating and drinking to tiled areas.
  • Smoking- Smoking is not allowed in the hospital or at the entrances to the building.
